[ardour-users] sends/inserts

*LAUGHS AND LAUGHS*  sorry i am in such a troublemakin mood

yeah i know all that - i'm not understanding these ardour sends and
inserts - do they even work right?  what is the deal?   i'm playing and
not really making the analog->ardour metaphor connection on these.
where am i supposed to route these inserts?  to another track with some
plugin?  why in the hell would i send a send to some other ardour track?
and what is an active signal stream, quoteunquote?  seems like if i have
two outputs, for example, on a given track, then i'd have two active
signal streams.  yet, for example, gverb tells me the track has zero?

what changed, because in previous versions of ardour, plugins seemed
much more inline.  i just shoved it inbetween the signal and the output.
no worries.  now most plugins won't connect, and they tell me i make no
sense.  and then they ridicule me and pants me.
