I take the middle ground, I have my Linux audio machine connected via a 
USB wireless device, and only plug it in (conveniently, my DAW has a USB 
port on the front) when I need to update stuff.  Otherwise, it comes out 
and all networking related processes are shut down so more resources can 
be used for audio.
