Thanks Jan and Mark
Ill have a look at Fedora Core 2 but I just found it was red hat and i
had trouble way back at the begining with that.
I guess i ended up with debian because allthough it was the "most
complicated to install ;) it seemed to be able to access so much more
"stuff" and there were some debian users here,, but the audio authoring
is beyond them so i have "outgrown" my support base :(
I even tried Startcom but its was too unfamiliar.
Ill see what happens with the thread re debian and use your fedora as a
fall back :)
I just dont want to waste the learning curve i have put into debian,
as i have most of the other aspects i feel are important sorted out
like ssh to and from the other machines etc.. The studio is kinda
split.. a garage at one house and a pc at mine. most of the rec will be
done at the garage while the audio polishing will be done at my place..
im using ssh to transfer things around.

just as way of example.. i installed ubuntu the other day.. easy as no
probs. untill i went to su root to aptget sshd
3/4 hour later i learnt ubuntu dosent have root and it uses sudu.. i got
confused having installed sarge and few others prior to that.
I was left thinking ...ggeeps if debian changes radical things like that
across is distros what chance have i got with other linux flavours.
I guess you can see why im lost if nothing else. excuse my slowness in
"jumping" to another one.

maybe i need to step back and take another look at the whole thing.
