[ardour-users] where do i start

I wish I could help you with your Debian/Ubuntu woes but I've never run
those distros.  For a complete newbie to run Ardour/JACK the best (and
simplest) answer (at present) is to use Fedora Core 1 with the Planet
CCRMA packages.  There are a couple of good reasons for doing this, not
the least of which is that that is what Paul D. is running.  Second
reason - JAMin runs well on that distro (it's what I'm running ;-)  If
you'd like to switch and would like help (prior to loading to make it
easy) I'll be glad to help you out.
