[ardour-users] No MTC?

I'm trying to get external MIDI control working with Ardour (via an 
Evolution controller), and I keep getting this message on startup:

ardour: [WARNING]: no MIDI ports specified: no MMC or MTC control possible

And I can't turn on MTC in the Options Editor.

My hardware:

Audiophile MidiMan 2496

Everything else works great, including synchronization with Rosegarden, 
just can't get this to work.  Is there something to configure via the 
ardour.rc file?
