[ardour-users] Newly compiled Ardour

I have to plead ignorance, I'm running Mandrake 10.1 linux and a 
old version on Ardour 0.9beta10 and I'm beginning to learn how to 
use the basic Ardour.  I went to download a newer version of Ardour that
is supposed to be for 10.1.  But newer versions wants a higher version of 
GLIBC than comes on 10.1.  How does this work you can't just replace GLIBC 
from what I can tell.  Any suggestions
