Think of a playlist as a bunch of pieces of of recording tape with 
pieces of audio on each and you are arranging these before you to 
ultimately splice into a single contiguous edit that you will playback 
with other contiguous spliced together pieces of recording tape for your 
mix. Each spliced together playlist gets played back on an individual 
playback head of a multi-track tape recorder.
