Wait - level 1?  If that's what Mark expects, I applaud him (must be a
data integrity junkie like me ::-), but I suspect he's more interested
in a level 0-esque setup - some kind of file striping.

FWIW, I run my ardour on software RAID 1 and have never seen disk
issues that weren't caused by SMART being dumb.
