If you run jack as root, you need to run all your apps that connect to 
it as root.  If you don't want to run it as root, you have to patch your 
kernel with some patch.. I don't remember what it's called (I just run 
everything as root - as my DAW isn't connected to any network)..  I know 
someone in here knows the patch you have to apply so non-root 
applications have access to the real-time scheduler.
