[ardour-users] Automation question

Hey,
Something I don't understand about automation.
Everything works fine up to a point I try to mixdown several track of 
which one track has automation on it.
As soon as I try to record this to a new track, through the master buss, 
the track with the automation remains at a constant volume as if the 
automation is disabled.
Is this normal behaviour or did I mis something?
