[ardour-users] effects turn off during record

Hi,

Seems while in "Record" mode, some [all?] effects go off on tracks being played 
back (overdubbing here).  They re-enable during playback ("Rec" button not 
enabled).  What am I doing wrong?

running antique version of Ardour

ps... oh and yes I did notice that the panning is screwy in this old version. 
I'm about ready to jump to the new one even before finishing tracking.
