Thanks Paul for your prompt answer.
We plan to use the data from standard version control systems (including svn & git) in the future, provided initial results (based on mails archive) make any sense. User forums may be good sources as well, but our crawlers are not ready yet.
The main reason for not readily using the source repositories logs is due to frequent changes in hosting systems for most OSS projects (eg you switched from SVN to GIT, if I'm right, maybe even used CVS before), and completing that part of the picture (of data) thus requires more time.Is there a log/archive of Ardour's IRC channel available anywhere? Google found me none. Confidentiality is guaranteed.
How about your feeling on the current & past state of the community?
Thanks again,Berteh. On Thu, Jun 6, 2013 at 2:05 PM, Paul Davis <paul at linuxaudiosystems.com> wrote:
we don't use mailing lists much any more (for development).
you would need to follow IRC and svn/git logs to get an idea of what is going with ardour.

Dear Ardour developers,Thanks for your nice piece of software, foremost.
I'm studying the liveliness of OpenSourceSoftware communitites (relying on the mailing lists exchanges history), and would like to get a bit of info on your history: 1) would you say the Ardour community is currently thriving or facing a down? anddo you remember some periods in time (from 2005 on) where things were 2) more difficult/dead or 3) much more active?
If anyone's interested to get background or detailed information I'd gladly provide some, as well as intermediate results (expected for September 2013).Have a nice day!Berteh.
