Or the Colloquy (IRC client) on iPhone way - you can download the  
(GPL) source for free, or you can install it off the app store for  
£1.20.

Building iPhone apps from source is a pain, and it's hardly going to  
break the bank, so it's worth the £1.20, IMHO.
