Can anyone explain to me the meanings of the various time related property 
fields in an Ardour Region (I mean within the XML file) ?

The "length" property is self explanatory but I'm a bit confused about the 
others. For example, what's the difference between "start" and "position"? 
Also, what is the difference between "position" and "sync-position"? 
Finally, there's a property called "first_edit" which usually looks 
something like:-  first_edit="name".  Could anyone explain what that means?
