Hello
here is my first test of the new ardour2-tarball:

build went OK with scons:

scons PREFIX=/home/zettberlin/bin/ardour2 NLS=no VST=no
scons install

(system is Suse 9.3 out-of-the-box with jack0.100.0, ardour0.99 runs
perfectly well)

all has been done whithout using root privileges

Startet up Jack with:

/usr/local/bin/jackd -dalsa -dhw:0 -r44100 -p512 -n2 -s -H

(I use HW-Monitoring via ICE 1712/envy24 instead of RT)

Now Ardour2 alive:

1.) i had to move my .ardour-files to allow a2 to set new ones
2.) there seem to be major Problems with fontsrendering in the
interface, they look twice as big as it might be intended
3.) if one uses the "Templates" - chooser in the "New Project" Dialogue,
one cannot switch back to "None", the last chosen Dir is being probed
for templates and the result is a crash.
4.) with a fresh new Session a2 runs smooth, tracks can be recorded,
connections are OK but alas: nothing to be hearded even though
everything looks good in the mixerleds, in qjackctl and on the
inputgraph of qarecord: no sound out of the App. The same with mhw
playing a snipplet wav recorded with ardour and dumped to disk with
qarecord. This is a mystery to me, i did not find any hints from
jack/alsa that anything is wrong.(Could this be an issue with routing
inside ardour?)
5.) saving the session crashes Ardour (without interfering with jack)

as jack is restarted,
sound plays again...

That´s it so far - i will do some more in-deep testing until monday,
hope it helps
As a p.s. you can find the terminal messages of the session

best regards
