I didn't hear it last night either, using the exact same Ardour. In fact, I
didn't notice any weird volume things on the audio tracks I was monitoring.
However, I did notice something weird on the track I was recording the tape
sync from sequencer on. There was always signal showing up on this track.
But when I hit record enable, the level jumped up, by about 3 db it looked
like. This could be due to the way I had it routed, though. It is a mono
track with two outs. Only one of the outs is hooked up, and it is not hooked
up to the master bus. Instead is hooked up directly to a separate ALSA
output port on my interface, as I obviously don't want to monitor a tape
sync.
