Just to clarify, what i was referring to was not managing the project
itself, but managing the expectations of those outside the project, which is
an entirely different thing at times, and the reason PR departments exist in
some cases.  Obviously a paid PR department is outside the scope of what
Ardour can handle, so it has to fall back on the project participants as
well in some cases.  I am not saying that Paul is doing a bad job of this
either at the moment, I am not sure I have an opinion one way or the other
on this, but what I was saying was that in the hypothetical situations I
posted it would become even more important and troublesome.

I tend to agree with this.  I personally reccomend this software to many
people to try BECAUSE it is free.  I will encourage to donate as well if I
know they start using it on a regular basis, but I am personally of the
opinion that guilt trips etc. are not the answer.  My personal opinion is
that rewarding those that subscribe rather than punishing those that don't
would be the better answer.
