However I've tried to simplify my life using this Ubuntu stuff and building nothing from scratch. I'll go down the Kubuntu 19.10 path first and if that doesn't solve things then I was thinking I'll look for an audio production distro that has real-time in it, Ubuntu based or not, and give that a try.
