No, there are other methods. <br>

A while ago I've used an original (not mark 2) Nanokontrol with
Ardour, which uses midi CC. If I remember rightly, Ardour comes with
a number of midi binding maps for controllers like that, but it's
reasonably easy to modify those maps to your own liking or create
new ones.<br>
<br>
I don't know about the other two controllers, so I don't know
whether they only speak Mackie or do midi CC as well.<br>

I'm sure others will be able to proffer more helpful advice from
their experience.<br>
