Haven't read your mail before I replied. At least it might "nurse" the HDD. I don't think that there will be e difference for the performance.<BR>

FWIW an example (and because of this HTML):<BR>

/dev/sda11 /mnt/music ext3 noatime,defaults 0 2<BR>
/dev/sdb12 /home/music ext4 noatime,defaults 0 2<BR>
<BR>
So just add "noatime" to the entries in /etc/fstab.
