hmmm... i'd be pretty disappointed to see this disappear. when setting up complicated sessions, with a lot of inter-channel routing (busses, sends, inserts, etc.), i find it a LOT easier to keep track of what's going on, and also a LOT quicker to do all the routing, when it's all done in the Inspector. it makes all the connection points easily accessible in one compact layout, whereas doing it all in the mixer window requires mousing around to the top and bottom of channel strips, scrolling across channels, etc.
i'm actually kinda surprised anyone wants to get rid of this! ;-)
but maybe i'm missing *another* efficient way to overview and set up large numbers of connections??...

a good point: sometimes a "text" view of the connections is nice to see, especially for large sessions. for example the Patchage GUI (and the A3 matrix view to a lesser extent) can get very confusing with lots of connections, requiring scrolling around with the mouse. as i am always looking for ways to avoid using the mouse/trackpad, i often use the Ardour Track/Bus inspector instead. so i stand corrected: having a text view of the connections i think is worth keeping around.<BR>
