Hi list,
I'm not Mozart, and have to rec a few tracks to hope a not too bad result.
How can I set Ardour to have only the input (of a MIDI track recorded
and redirected) to master bus ?

do you mean soloing the MIDI track (and its associated bus)?

Not really, have to explain better, when re-read first post it's
confused !

Means, I record a MIDI track, and because of my poor playing ability,
have to rec several ones
and choose the not too bad parts here and there. But if I rec on the
same track, and plan to
"choose the top" on the track list, something is blowing : you have all
the tracks of the list
routing to the synth during rec, and a complete collection of the bad
notes in the ears !!!

So, what look for is a way to have only the track recorded that goes to
synth, and the other
one 'under' it "muted".

As far I remember, for an audio track it's ok, you only hear the one
that is recorded, and can
choose after the one you like on top w/ play ?

i rarely use choose top and overlap regions, as it gets confusing
to me very quickly. A3 has stacked regions, but i have not used them
yes, but i think that you can do what you want with playlists,
which i use all the time: create a new playlist for each take of the
MIDI part you are playing on one track. then create either a new MIDI
track or a new playlist where you can use copy/paste to combine
the parts from the take playlists to form the finished piece. i find
it easier to have the takes on various playlists of 1 track "piano 01
-- takes" and build the finished pieced on another track "piano 01".
you will obviously have 2 tracks where 1 would suffice, but i think it
is clearer, and once the piece is built from the various takes, you can
always disable the "takes" track to save resources.

i hope that answers your question.

Thanks for that, I never used playlist and will try. It could be easier
that the way found here : rec
a track, drag it to the session end, rec another, drag it after the
first, etc... and then choose
between takes with right clic "move to original position". It works,
but is somewhere pitiful DIY,
that is not in Ardour professional DAW mood !!
I prefer to do that instead of punch in/out, cause feeling is better
here like that.
