Ardour 3 uses MIDI binding .map files. The map file I created reads the fader controls into Ardour banks. You can use the Ardour controls to switch banks (1-9, 10-18, etc.) or use the "scene" button to advance to the next bank. This can get confusing since the LED indicator might get out of sync with Ardour. For instance, if your controller was left on Scene 2 and you load a file, Ardour will actually be on bank 1. Incrementing bank will be nano scene 3 and Ardour bank 2.

Because of this I've rewritten the file to ignore Ardour banking to more easily track which bank or scene you're working from. This works well because the NanoKontrol actually sends completely different codes for each fader (pot and toggles) depending on the scene.

I need to check if panning has been implemented in A3 yet. When I first created the map file it hadn't so I mapped the pots to be "Send Gain" which will control the volume of the first send on a channel (if one exists). Since the toggle buttons are unlabelled I chose to map them to Solo and Record Enable. This is easily changed since the map file is a simple text file.

Oh, and of course the transport works as expected ;-)

Hello!

I use the NANOKONTROL for ardour2, haven't moved to A3 yet.
To configure the device you just use KORGs own controlsoftware through wine, works out of the box without any hassle.
In ardour2 you simply connect the device to ardour through jack, enable Generic MIDI and use the middle mousebutton on whatever controller in ardour you want to bind, then just move the appropriate fader/push the appropriate button on the NANOKONTROL.

hot tip: You need to use their software to set all the buttons to toggle-mode and not momentary if you want to use them traditionally for solo/mute etc, since they, atleast for me, was configured to be on momentary mode out of the box.
Hi :)

is the KORG NANOKONTROL or any other low cost control useful when using
Ardour2/ Ardour3 on Linux? Is it possible to use more than just one with
Ardour and how can they be programmed on Linux or isn't there the need
to do this for some options?
