I thought I had sid in my repository list, but apparently not... how
(or where) can I get this item (address)? & or, I do not exactly
understand your option B) (I mean, I know about 'apt' but I think I do
not understand your use of the term 'pinning,' would this be doing an
apt-get install [path-filename]?)<br>

I do believe, that said, getting my glib problem fixed (i.e., the old
version removed, they both now appear to have tentacles as important
dependencies), as some have suggested, is an important item... (though,
just exactly how important, I do not <i>really</i> know).<br>

Thanks for suggestion/s... The version in my Synaptic P.M. is
2.8.3-2... I would have installed it this way (though I think the v.
2.8.4 did get some important bugs out, & was therefore preferred),
but it would download & install jackd & qjackctl, &
possibly other items, & I had no idea if this would simply replace
my current installed version of those programs, or make for multiple
instances, which I do believe, would/could be problematic.<br>

Late to the thread, sorry.
You could also try a couple of other options if you are set on using
Debian (which is a good thing, IMHO :).
A) use sid. Ardour 2.8.4 works fine for me (with sid.)
B) use apt pinning to pull in required packages from squeeze/sid.
