Hi,

I would like to pay for ardour, but don't want to use PayPal or my
credit card for this.  My credit card number is already in too many
hands and PayPal has just now rejected me two times ("your session has
expired and yuou need to reenter your data"; I suspect that's because
I have cookies turned off.)

Is there any way to pay the money directly into someone's account?

Fun, and thanks for a great product!

Those who have tried the beta29 dmg I uploaded, what are your machine
specs (G4? G5?) and did it run or not?  I think scons might be
over-optimizing the build compared to the autotools build.

Hi,

ardour segfaults when started by a non-root user. Starting jackd and
ardour as root works fine. Here is what happens: jack is started by
the user with

jackstart -R -d alsa -d hw:0 -r 44100 -n 2 -p 1024

It starts up o.k. When starting ardour and creating a new session,
ardour segfaults. Below is the terminal output. It seems there are
some permission problems.

Thanks for any hints,
Orm

Have you built and loaded the realtime-lsm modules for this kernel?

<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/realtime-lsm/">http://sourceforge.net/projects/realtime-lsm/</a>

That should at least get you past the second error message, and
possibly that's enough not to segfault.

What happens if you remove the realtime -R from the Jack startup command?

Ardour starts up fine without the -R flag.

I wonder why I don't get the segfault on my laptop which is also
equipped with a custom 2.4.26-lck kernel (not the same as on the
Desktop machine though) and the same ardour version.

Hi,

I just found out that the problem obviously is related to jack and not
to ardour. Other jack-aware applications also can't connect to jackd
if jackstart was started in realtime mode. I was mislead by the fact
that jackstart didn't complain on startup.

Unfortunately I'm not anywhere near the machine right now and can
check things only by a remote ssh connection, so I will have to
postpone tests to Monday.

Thanks for the hint about the -R flag, Mark. That probably saved me
quite some time...

capabilities aren't working for you. Ar they really applied to that

You'll find it I'm sure.
