Please go to ardour.org and hit the forums with your question.

However, since you are running a very old version, I would really 
encourage you to update since nobody feels like supporting that old 
stuff anymore. If you don't have much cash to spare, I think you can 
just pay $1 for it, although you might want to consider more given the 
massive improvements since then.

The Ardour build is pretty self-contained, so I'd say there are good 
chances it'll run on 20.4 LTS out of the box.

Also, it installs into its own /opt subdirectory and can run alongside 
other versions of Ardour. So my approach would be to install the most 
recent build, see if the bug magically disappears, and only then start 
debugging the zombie version...

You might also want to look at the ardour configuration files in your 
home directory - move them out of the way temporarily to see if that 
fixes the breakage.
