Yes, during normal operation. Particularly when recording or doing live
mixing.

When doing setup work (adding tracks, connecting things, adding plugins)
it's not realistic to have zero x-runs. But it doesn't matter in that
case anyway.

PS. shift+click on Ardour's x-run counter to reset it (shift + click is
the general reset operator).
