I imagine that a real-time kernel might be a great idea, and when I used to
run Gentoo on this laptop I always did that. However I've tried to simplify
my life using this Ubuntu stuff and building nothing from scratch. I'll go
down the Kubuntu 19.10 path first and if that doesn't solve things then I
was thinking I'll look for an audio production distro that has real-time in
it, Ubuntu based or not, and give that a try. I think PlanetCCRMA is still
out there although not generally looking forward to going back to Fedora.

There's nothing on this machine so if this doesn't work I can reinstall
Kubuntu LTS in an hour or so to get back to where I am right now.
