we have no plans to actively drop support for any plugins.
but let me repeat: GTK+ and Qt are not smart choices for plugin GUIs, and
they will already fail in some easily achievable scenarios. Write your new
plugin with GTK+3 ... it will not run in Ardour because that's not possible
thanks to GTK+.
