There are many ways to contribute to the Ardour project without learning
the codebase itself.  Here are a few:

* Evangelizing on forums, etc
* Language Translations
* Contributing to the manual and/or website
* Video tutorials on YouTube
* Create useful Lua scripts
* Colors & Theme-ing
* Keyboard shortcut files for non-US keyboard layouts
* MIDI instrument & path-preset files ( .midnam )
* MIDI controller maps for generic MIDI devices (written in XML text format)
* Control surface code ( requires building ardour, but the scope of code
to change is small )
* OSC remote code ( requires building ardour, but the scope of code to
change is small )
* OSC controller templates ( TouchOSC, Lemur, etc )
* Presets for included LV2 plugins
* Track Templates  ( Window-> Templates )
* Session Templates ( Window -> Templates )
* Creating LV2 plugins for bundling in Ardour
* Plugin tags (NEW)
* Improving the soundfont (.sf2) in the bundled General MIDI synth

Other ideas:

We don't currently bundle any MIDI files/loops.  Perhaps someone could
contribute a library of 1-bar and 4-bar MIDI files (particularly
drums).  Perhaps use ardour's existing "tag" mechanism to categorize them.

We should bundle a comprehensive "demo" session that exercises all of
ardour's featues, and/or gives new users something to start from.

....more ideas welcome!
