Is it possible at all to have this at a useful level in Ardour ? How
very useful can it be when the playhead will play all loops in a column
only ? What I mean is, is it worthwhile at all ? I use Mixbus32C for
mixing/mastering although I cannot conceive how it could give the
flexibility of a grid of say 32 MIDI/audio clips by 12 scenes, each of
which in a row can be played in sync at any time. Try this synth line
with this drum over there. That guitar down there with the bass up
here to the left. Try them and record your tries - your switching of
clips - at the same time in traditional tracks for further
song-based editing.

I mean, I really like Mixbus32C for mixing and mastering. It's great.
Has certain drawbacks perhaps, like most software do, but it does great
things as it is today. By the same token is it the best thing to
pursue groove-centric sessions in a framework that's not really made
for it, perhaps to find after 5 years spent on that, that it does not
compare to tools (eg. Bitwig) made specifically to groove clips in a
way that's largely (bit not totally) free form and thus opens the door
for creativity ? Tools that have even developed much further inb those
same 5 years ?

Could it be that this effort would bring better results by
concentrating on the strengths of Ardour instead ?

Cheers.
