[Ardour-Users] Using the Faderport fader for any automation ?

Is it possible to use the Faderport fader for anything related to
automation ?  The user manual says:

"Write 	Puts the fader for the controlled track/bus into
automation write mode. While the transport is rolling, all fader
changes will be recorded to the fader automation lane for the relevant
track/bus. "

So I chose what to automate, in this case the Diff parameter of the
Zverb plugin.  The Write button on the Faderport is red lit, but it
still moves the main volume fader when the transport is rolling (or
stopped for that matter).
