[Ardour-Users] Another newbie Question: Anyone having experiences with following setup: Ardour, Jack, Linux, Lexicon Omega (or other USB1-device) ?

This "symmetric delay" assumption is more of an aesthetic thing than of
any relevancy. The important value for multitrack recording is the
overall systematic delay of playback+record. This is the value to be
used in compensation, determining the delay of new samples in respect to
old samples being replayed. Just where the physical action is happening
between replay and record is irrelevant to Ardour _unless_ there is yet
another timed path to the artist, like a _flashing_ metronome (or you
try singing/playing to the time code display). An _acoustic_ click
track does not count: it again fits the overall systematic delay
pattern.
