OTOH cheap Behringer digital guitar gear tube emulations are quite
usable, at least they often sound much better than guitarix and Co.,
unfortunately handling of those cheap Behringer tube emulation is a
PITA, so using guitarix and similar software could be much more
pleasant. Years ago another friend owned a very nice Hughes & Kettner
tube preamp that was very good for recording guitars directly played
through the mixing console, even if it wasn't aimed for that kind of
(mis)usage. Anyway, at least in the past Arts provided good and cheap
tube preamps for microphones and other purposes. E-guitars are a
completely different beast.
