[Ardour-Users] Firewire installation

Hi Can anyone take me through the installation of  FFADO 2.3
I've tried the normal :
/comfig
make
make install
But get errors.
Is there another system used to install from source?
The readme page is blank.
This has become a real show stopper for me.
