Then _use_ /usr, do _not_ use /usr/local. Anyway, use dpkg to list the
files of all existing jack packages (especially libjack packages) and
ensure that everything is removed. While jackd will be overridden by
jackd, libfoo.1 will not be overridden by libfoo.2 ;).
