There are now 2 alternatives for FireWire sound configuration under
GNU/Linux, either FFADO or Native ALSA, you just need to be careful that
if you use FFADO, you need to disable the ALSA driver in blacklist.conf
or it will most likely cause issues with streaming.
Although, I do recommend giving the ALSA mode a shot, as it's fairly new
in the kernel and might work better than a userspace FFADO driver.

I was under the impression that HDSP cards have a native linux driver,
so this is not an issue, these cards should work perfectly under GNU/Linux.
