In Ardour 4.0.0, in preferences -> audio, there are two settings for
buffer sizes.  I have tried minimum and near-maximum values, restarting
Ardour after each modification to be sure it is taken into account
(maybe this allocation is done at start up only) and the result is
none.  It does not change anything.  There is still a slight flam on
the tom sound.

I forgot to mention that previously, as "in the past", I could record
acoustic guitar while listening to it through processing, in the
headphones.  There were problems, but then I switched to hardware audio
monitoring and it was OK.  This time, though, the delay is still
there.  The audio card is the same, but the motherboard certainly has
changed, for a better one, along with more RAM.
