Right this is an intermittent problem in the version of jack that you
are using.
JACK can deadlock when switching to freewheeling for no-realtime export.
The higher the load (lager session), the more likely the lock-up. You
can retry export a few times, and it may work sometimes, but really
just update jack. The issue was fixed on Nov/6 2013.

Depends on your distribution. There are recent versions of jack1 and
jack2 in most of them - even Ubuntu. There should not be a need to
compile it.
