Which graphics card are you using (`lspci` should tell)?


Ardour4 uses 2D acceleration which in general yields huge performance
improvements, except for some odd graphics cards/drivers where the
accelerated version can actually be a lot slower. (IIRC some AMD-cards
radeon[?] were or are having issues like this. The issue is being
worked on in the driver EXA, glamour).
