George, I am just another user on the list offering you an answer to your
question. I have made nothing difficult and having nothing at all to do
with your subscribtion to this list.

If you find clicking on the link "incredibly difficult", then I would suggest
then abandoning your email address as you suggest might well be your best
course of action. Not because it's a remotely sensible one, but because I
can't think of anything else that would be easier than clicking the link.
