If you are feeling limited by Ardour, and cannot or will not afford
something else. I would like to recommend a book by Georges Perec
"Species of Spaces and Other Pieces, ed. and trans. by John Sturrock
(London: Penguin, 1997; rev. ed. 1999)". That offer a great deal of
inspiration about how to play around with limitations and frames.

Neither did Ray Charles record/produce his albums in Ardour. Something
easy to forget in the western world of facilitation, is the delicious
role of limitations in creativity: Work-around tend to open up unknown
opportunities, and frustration can be powerful thrive to achieve a goal.
Because frustration makes one dream about a better tomorrow and/or
easier solutions. But i agree that the lesser the effort, the faster the
fun. (Just don't come up with that brainwave inspiration/thought-scanner
please)

I guess until recently open-source software was attractive mainly to
people subscribing to a philosophy (which stands in bright contrast to
the foundations of the major music industry): altruism. That's is my
guess as to why there are so few major label artists using Ardour in
their studio. But, i wasn't there, so who knows?

Hopefully 2014 is the year were all the superstars go Ardour! But before
that, i hope all the superstars go Altruism!

Be safe y'all and happy production!
