[Ardour-Users] Fw: can't get midi to work

Ok, so what's the drill for a linux dumbo who wants to do use ardour 3 + midi, like me?
Is there a more suitable distro you could suggest?

just for some context: JACK 0.118 was released on 2009-11-16 09:36

that's not far off 2 years ago. A distribution that can't update a
package (that has almost no hard dependencies) during 2 years? no
comment.
