I have run both 64 and 32 bit for along time. 

I have never been able to pick a perceivable difference in performance (even with
8GB of RAM).... 

I have noticed however software compatibility for many linux audio apps is better
in 32 bit (still).. which is disappointing but my production system is 32 bit and
will be until this situation changes.

I've learned that what you get is to use all registers in the CPU, which are not
used when running 32bit soft.
