I had hoped that it was just complaining about my old version of Jack
but I installed 2.999 from the Gentoo pro-audio overlay and it's still
complaining. Apparently it's something else.

I'm off to dinner and will look at this later.

Again, congrats on this major release. What - I asked for MIDI in
about 1999 or something. It's here! Requests are eventually filled!
