While I can't comment on the inital question, this is a VERY bad
statement to make.  Almost none, if any, of their firewire products
work in Linux.  IIRC some of their USB devices do not work well
either, particularly the USB2 devices might be limited to USB1 class
compliant mode which in general means 16/48k is the best you will get
out of them if they work at all.
