[Ardour-Users] split at markers

I was wondering how to do this common audio task:
- say I have record or acquire a 60 second recording of someone speaking 
lines or doing foley
- I drop markers as I listen to it - noting parts I want to use later
- I want to split the track into regions/ranges/? where the markers were 
dropped

- is there a simple way to accomplish this in Ardour?

I tried using ranges and regions and separate and split but I haven't 
figured out how do to this
