libsoundtouch exists but is *generally* less good than rubberband. i
assume that you tried a lot of different settings for the current
algorithm, because what it does is very very dependent on what you
tell it. i have read that soundtouch can sometimes do a better job on
some monophonic (single voice) audio. we used to use soundtouch, but
not at present. how much were you stretching/shrinking by?
there are no known other free implementations.
oh, also, please use the ardour-users mailing list for such questions
in the future.
