?? No, guitarix doesn't depend on jack2.  It depends on libjack0 >= 0.116
which is in the official repos. Have you tried?

I compile ardour from svn (but Philip's package is OK afaik) and I am in
ubuntu karmic, YMMV. I have not had any dependency issues except for amarok
(I am running gnome). I tend to think that the packages for lucid will be
just as good.

He is very nice and he will probably package ardour2.8.9 for lucid if
someone asks him.

In any case, with PPA's, it is better to enable, install whatever package
you want and disable again. Experimental rolling realease, untrusted PPA,
not supported by Canonical, install at your own risk... all kind of
warnings, but hey, it is launchpad and he has karma. I suggest you try and
see by yourself. You can always downgrade to the official ubuntu versions.
