Paul, nobody's suggesting bringing back the edit cursor.  I was pointing out that there's still a blue vertical line (that looks like the old edit cursor) and (maybe) the blue marker could take on whatever role that blue line performs. In addition to its main role which would be to show the location at which "mouse mode" paste operations will be performed.
